As the summer ramped down, our family had the opportunity to participate in a SkyCard Summer Activity - a Kayaking Tour on Lake Dillon! I made the reservation through Xplorie and the process was very simple. Our Xplorie representative was friendly and patiently walked us through the entire reservation process explaining the types of tours, and days and times available. We reserved a Sunday morning 1.5 Hour Family Tour. That morning we arrived 15 minutes early to find parking, walk to the docks, sign-in, and get life jackets. Having never kayaked before I was pleased the Guide did a quick tutorial on how to properly hold and row the oar. Within minutes, all the families were happily loaded into double kayaks and we were off!
The Lake Dillon Kayak Tour Guide was wonderful - she made everyone feel comfortable and stopped frequently for the group to gather back together. She shared information on birds and local history about Lake Dillon and the surrounding mountains - even as a local it was interesting and fun to learn some new facts! Our children (ages 9 and 12) got a little tired towards the end of the tour but overall they said they enjoyed it and liked being able to paddle. Seeing the surrounding mountains and area from this unique perspective was an experience I will not soon forget and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience the great outdoors!
